Life story
1962

Mrs. Esther Lordsamba was a well-loved lecturer at Saker Baptist College from 1992 to 1999.  She was known as Miss Ngum and later Mrs. Lordsamba. She taught many of us English language, English Literature, Religious Studies and Civics (probably more). She always had a smile on her face and a bounce to her step. She was jovial and in fact a very lovely lady.

Mrs. Lordsamba suffered a serious stroke approximately five years ago in the USA. She never quite recovered from the stroke and she was paralyzed from the neck down and lost all communication. She later developed cancer to make things worse. The thought of being in pain and not being able to do anything about it, but relying on people to ease the pain is unbearable. That is how our beloved lecturer spent the last months of her life.

Her husband and two children joined her approximately two years ago, to support her in any way they could. Things were made worse with Mrs. Lordsamba's mum, also in the USA becoming very ill. Mrs. Lordsamba’s sister who also has a very young family and other family members and friends have put in every effort to maintain some kind of normalcy in spite of everything. Mrs. Lordsamba lost her youngest sister just over three years ago in the USA also, following a very brief encounter with cancer.  It has really been non-stop for her family.

Mr. Lordsamba wishes to take his wife back to Cameroon and give her a befitting burial there. Things are definitely tough. We can all appreciate how tough it is in the USA for anyone who has just arrived and not really worked because they have been caring for very ill relatives. They need all the support they can get now.

Thanks to all who have already offered whatever support they can. We now wish to raise funds to support the Lordsamba and Ngum families towards the funeral arrangements of their dear wife, sister, daughter, mother and our former lecturer, Mrs. Esther Lordsamba. Every little bit helps.

May at her soul rest in perfect peace.
